Country singer Conner Smith, 24, was involved in a fatal car accident in Nashville on Sunday, June 8, that resulted in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Smith was driving a Chevrolet Silverado northbound on 3rd Avenue North when he struck Dobbins as she crossed the street in a marked crosswalk around 7:30 p.m. Dobbins, who lived nearby, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Police stated that the preliminary contributing factor for the crash was Smith’s failure to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. Authorities emphasized that Smith showed no signs of impairment at the scene and noted that he was neither under the influence nor distracted by his phone at the time of the accident. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and no charges have been filed against Smith at present.

The incident occurred during the final day of the annual CMA Fest, a major four-day country music festival in Nashville.
