In a heartfelt display of solidarity and accountability, the Tata Group, which owns Air India, has announced a generous compensation of ₹1 crore (10 million Indian Rupees) for the families of each person who tragically lost their life in the Air India Flight 171 crash in Ahmedabad yesterday. This compassionate move goes beyond just financial support; it includes a commitment to help those affected by this heartbreaking event.
The ill-fated Air India flight, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, was on its way from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick when it crashed shortly after takeoff. The impact occurred in the Meghaninagar area, hitting residential quarters of the B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, resulting in widespread destruction and numerous casualties. As rescue operations continue, the focus has now shifted to providing relief and support to the grieving families and the injured.
In addition to the significant ex-gratia payment, the Tata Group has also pledged to cover all medical expenses for those injured in the crash, ensuring that every survivor receives the necessary care without the added worry of financial strain. Moreover, acknowledging the collateral damage caused by the crash, the Tata Group has committed to assisting in the rebuilding efforts for the damaged B.J. Medical College's hostel.
This comprehensive aid package highlights the Tata Group's dedication to supporting the affected communities during this incredibly challenging time. While no amount of compensation can truly ease the pain of losing a loved one, the immediate and extensive support offered by the Tata Group aims to provide some financial stability and help facilitate the recovery process for the victims' families and the impacted infrastructure.
