McDonald’s is set to bring back its beloved Snack Wrap to U.S. restaurants on July 10, 2025, marking a major return after nearly a decade of fan demand. Originally launched in the mid-2000s, the Snack Wrap quickly became a cult favorite, featuring a crispy chicken strip, shredded lettuce, cheese, and sauce all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. The item was discontinued nationwide in 2016 due to its impact on kitchen efficiency, though some franchisees continued to serve it until 2020, when menu streamlining during the pandemic led to its full removal.
The decision to revive the Snack Wrap comes as McDonald’s faces a slowdown in U.S. sales, with same-store sales dropping 3.6% in the first quarter of 2025. The company’s leadership, including CEO Chris Kempczinski, has acknowledged the persistent demand from customers, who have spent years petitioning, tweeting, and asking in drive-thrus for the Snack Wrap’s return. This groundswell of support inspired McDonald’s to reintroduce the item, aiming to boost sales and reconnect with loyal fans.
This time, the Snack Wrap will feature McDonald’s new McCrispy Strips, which debuted nationwide in May 2025. Customers can choose between two flavors: Spicy, which offers a bold habanero kick, and Ranch, known for its creamy, savory taste. The wraps will be available both à la carte and as part of a combo meal that includes two wraps, medium fries, and a drink.
The return of the Snack Wrap is part of McDonald’s broader strategy to expand its chicken offerings and compete with fast-growing rivals like Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, and Raising Cane’s. The move is expected to intensify the ongoing “chicken wars” in the fast-food industry, with other chains also launching new chicken wraps to capture consumer attention.
