Kings of Leon have canceled their upcoming UK and European tour dates after lead singer Caleb Followill suffered a serious injury in a "freak accident" while playing with his children. The 43-year-old frontman shattered his heel and underwent emergency surgery in Nashville. Doctors have advised him to avoid walking or traveling for approximately eight weeks, leading to the cancellation of performances scheduled from June 10 in Paris through July 12 in Portugal.
The band expressed their disappointment over the cancellations but assured fans that Caleb is recovering well. They plan to continue working within Caleb’s physical limitations and are exploring alternative ways to engage with fans during this period. Ticket holders for the canceled shows will receive refunds. Major UK events like Blackweir Fields in Cardiff and Lytham Festival in Lancashire have confirmed full refunds, with Lytham announcing a shortened festival due to the inability to find a replacement act.
Despite the setback, Kings of Leon are scheduled to resume their tour in the United States, with their next performance set for July 18 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. They are also expected to return to the UK for festivals in Newcastle and Portsmouth in late August. The band's latest album, Can We Please Have Fun, was released in May 2024. They had planned to debut new songs from the album during the now-canceled European tour dates.
In response to Kings of Leon's withdrawal, the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid has announced that British rock band Muse will replace them as the headliner on July 10. This will be Muse's only performance in Spain during their European tour. Fans are encouraged to stay updated through the band's official channels for information on rescheduled dates and future announcements.
