The 78th Annual Tony Awards will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Hosted by Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo, the ceremony will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ and Pluto TV. This year's nominations spotlight a vibrant Broadway season with 42 productions: 14 new musicals, 14 new plays, and 14 revivals. Broadway legend Audra McDonald achieved a record-breaking 11th nomination for her role in Gypsy.

Leading the nominations are musicals Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending, each with 10 nods. Top contenders among plays include John Proctor is the Villain and The Hills of California, each earning seven nominations.​ Hollywood heavyweights made significant impressions with their Broadway debuts. George Clooney earned a nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Play for Good Night, and Good Luck, while Nicole Scherzinger is up for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Sunset Boulevard.

Despite participating in high-profile productions, several stars were notably absent from the nominations. Denzel Washington, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Robert Downey Jr. were among those snubbed, with Othello receiving no nominations. The Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented to Harvey Fierstein. Additionally, the musicians of Buena Vista Social Club will receive a Special Tony Award, and Celia Keenan-Bolger will be honored with the Isabelle Stevenson Award.​

The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET and will be available for streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
