The Philippines has recently introduced visa-free entry for Indian passport holders, effective from May 2025, marking a significant easing of travel restrictions between the two countries. Indian citizens can now visit the Philippines without a visa for up to 14 days for tourism purposes. This 14-day visa-free stay is strictly for tourism and cannot be extended or converted into another visa type. To qualify, travellers must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay, confirmed accommodation, proof of sufficient funds, a return or onward ticket, and no negative immigration history in the Philippines.
In addition to the 14-day visa-free entry, the Philippines offers an enhanced 30-day visa-free stay for Indian nationals who hold valid visas or permanent residency permits from select countries. These countries include Australia, Japan, America (United States), Canada, Schengen states, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. This extended stay option caters to Indian travellers with established international travel histories and frequent travellers, providing greater flexibility for longer visits. The same documentation requirements apply for this category, including a valid passport, confirmed accommodation, and return or onward travel tickets.
The visa-free entry is available through all major international airports, seaports, and cruise terminals in the Philippines. Indian tourists planning to visit the country’s renowned beaches, volcanic landscapes, and tropical islands will benefit from this streamlined process, which aims to boost tourism and strengthen bilateral ties between India and the Philippines. The Philippine government expects these relaxed visa policies to significantly increase tourist arrivals from India, contributing to the local economy and tourism sector revival.
For Indian nationals who do not meet the criteria for visa-free entry or plan to stay longer than the visa-free periods, the Philippines continues to offer an e-visa system. This online application process allows for a 30-day stay under a Temporary Visitor Visa (9a), with a single-entry permit. Applicants need to submit valid passports, photographs, proof of accommodation, return tickets, and financial proof. The e-visa application is processed within seven working days, offering a convenient alternative for extended or non-tourism visits.
