Nothing’s entry into the premium audio market has drawn global attention with the launch of the Nothing Headphone 1, priced at ₹21,999 in India. This move positions the London-based brand, previously known for its earbuds and smartphones, directly against established giants like Sony and Bose in the high-end headphone segment. The collaboration with British audio brand KEF is a headline-grabber, promising not just unique design but also serious audio credentials, with custom 40mm dynamic drivers and tuning for a rich, natural sound profile.
Internationally, the Nothing Headphone 1 is being recognized for its advanced features. These include up to 42dB hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), real-time adaptive ANC, and a Transparency Mode that keeps users aware of their surroundings. The headphones support Hi-Res Audio, LDAC, USB-C lossless playback, and even a 3.5mm jack, catering to both wireless and wired audiophiles. The integration of AI-powered call noise cancellation, using a 4-mic ENC system trained on millions of noise scenarios, further elevates its appeal for commuters and professionals alike.
The design, a hallmark of Nothing’s brand, is polarizing yet distinctive. The transparent panels, cassette-inspired patterns, and industrial accents make the Headphone 1 stand out in a crowded market. Weighing 329g and built with aluminium and polycarbonate, it balances durability with style. The control scheme is also notable, featuring a Roller, Paddle, and Button for intuitive media, ANC, and app-switching controls, with deep customization available through the Nothing X app.
Battery life is another global talking point: up to 35 hours with ANC on and a staggering 80 hours with ANC off, plus fast charging that delivers several hours of playback in just minutes. Early impressions from tech reviewers worldwide suggest that the Nothing Headphone 1 offers a compelling blend of design, technology, and sound quality, making it a serious contender in the premium headphone space.
