Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has significantly strengthened its presence in India by inaugurating a state-of-the-art showroom in Chennai’s Teynampet locality. This 4,700 sq. ft facility, managed by the well-known Maansarovar Motors, is VinFast’s largest showroom thus far. Marking its second retail outlet in India after Surat, the Chennai showroom aims to deliver a premium customer experience and serve as a crucial step in the brand’s countrywide retail expansion strategy. The new center showcases the company’s flagship electric SUVs—the VF 6 and VF 7—positioned to attract discerning buyers interested in environmentally friendly and technologically advanced transportation options.
VinFast’s foray into India began with its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat, which opened just a week prior. The Surat facility spans 3,000 sq. ft and is located in the prominent Piplod area, operated in partnership with Chandan Car, a notable local automotive dealer. Like the Chennai location, the Surat outlet offers immersive brand experiences and after-sales support, with both EV models—VF 6 and VF 7—on display. Both showrooms are central to VinFast’s ambitious plan to establish 35 dealerships in over 27 cities by the end of 2025, cementing the brand’s commitment to strengthening its EV ecosystem in India.
To bolster its expansion, VinFast has also invested in local manufacturing, with a major new facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This $500 million plant, strategically situated in Tamil Nadu’s industrial corridor, will initially roll out 50,000 electric vehicles per year, with the capacity to increase output up to 150,000 units as demand grows. India will be the first market to receive right-hand drive versions of VF 6 and VF 7, which will be assembled locally. This local assembly not only enhances accessibility for Indian consumers but also supports VinFast’s long-term vision of using India as a launchpad for exports to neighboring Asian, Middle Eastern, and African markets.
VinFast’s Indian entry is further supported by strategic partnerships with major players like RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure, aiming to swiftly establish a nationwide charging and after-sales network. The company has also tied up with BatX Energies for battery recycling, underscoring its environmental priorities. Pre-bookings for VF 6 and VF 7 began on July 15, 2025, with a fully refundable Rs 21,000 booking amount, helping generate early traction among Indian EV enthusiasts. With an aggressive retail rollout and robust local infrastructure, VinFast is well-positioned to help shape India’s burgeoning electric mobility market.
