Chris Evans, the cherished actor who brought Captain America to life for over a decade, has shared his thoughts on not being part of the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday. Even though he has firmly ruled out any return as the iconic superhero, Evans expressed a sense of nostalgia, likening his current situation to "not being invited to the party," especially as many of his former co-stars, including Robert Downey Jr. in a surprising new role as Doctor Doom, prepare for the much-anticipated film.
In recent interviews, the actor, who wrapped up his journey as Steve Rogers in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, opened up about his true feelings. "It's sad to be away, It's sad to not be back with the band," Evans admitted, reminiscing about the bond he had with the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast and crew. He recognized that while he believes the film will be "incredible," he expects to feel "that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren't invited to the party."
Evans has been pretty clear about his retirement from the Captain America role since Endgame, where his character found a nice, peaceful resolution. Even his recent cameo as Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine just added fuel to the fire of speculation, which he quickly shot down regarding Doomsday. His firm denial suggests that fans hoping for a surprise return of the shield-wielding hero in the next Avengers movie might be in for a letdown.
Even though he's not involved in the filming right now, Evans makes it known that he still keeps in touch with his former Marvel buddies, including the Russo Brothers, who are directing Avengers: Doomsday, and Robert Downey Jr. While he might not be on set for this particular chapter, it’s clear that his bond with the Marvel family remains strong, even as he faces the bittersweet reality of watching from the sidelines.
